Who Are We Helping?

I've been meaning to post Brian and Patty's picture for several weeks. But, as many of you know, my wife gave birth on Dec. 5th to our fourth child, so postings have been...well...non-existant! But we are still trying to help Brian and Patty to move into a home of their own. Our self imposed deadline has now passed (Dec 25) but that has no bearing on our commitment to continue and help this couple find peace and happiness in their own home.

All of us at Talk Radio 990 hope that you will consider to be a part of our OneSmallHouse.com project to help these people. Trading for a house is obviously a challenging task, but if Kyle McDonald can do it for himself, I believe we can do it to help this couple in a time of need. Remember, participating is easy. Look under your bed, look in your attic, basement or garage! There is bound to be an item you can trade with us for the antique dresser, which will help us get closer to trading for a house for Brian and Patty. I know they appreciate everyone that has participated thus far. So send in your trade to trade@onesmallhouse.com and help us help them! T'is the season of giving...

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

On this day we are reminded of how much there is to be thankful for: Our health, our family and friends, our Country and those who have sacrificed their lives for our freedom, and so much more. We hope that you will take a moment to reflect on your blessings and consider posting a trade with us so that we can help a local family (currently being assisted through Bread for Life and the H.O.P.E. program in Southington). We would like to help this family move into a house of their own by Christmas. Consider trading something that you no longer need or use, something that you may not consider worth much but may be of value to someone else so that we can achieve our goal on time! Have a Happy Thanksgiving and may God continue to richly bless you.

Another Trade Completed

Well, I just got back from picking up our latest trade! It is an antique dresser from the early 1900's. Jim and Christina from Bristol heard about our project and searched high and low until they found something to contribute. We will be giving them the Barbie Dolls just as soon as they arrive. We are so appreciative of them for wanting to be involved in our project to help a less fortunate family.

What we are doing is so simple. And you can be a part of it too. Just let us know what you have to trade! We are hoping to make a final trade by Christmas Eve for a house; a first time home buyer fixer upper is all we are looking for, and what you have to trade will help us get there. Do what Jim and Christina did. They checked in their basement and found this dresser. An antique at that! Can you find a use for this antique dresser? Are you an antique collector that can put some finishing touches to give the dresser some new life? Tell us what you have to trade and let's make a deal! Email your trade offer to trade@onesmallhouse.com. Be sure to include One Small House in your subject so you email isn't discarded as spam.

We're Making Headway

Our second trade was made official on Nov 14 when Connie came by the station with the Electric Typewriter that she traded for the Coffee Mug. We are thrilled to be moving forward with the trading to get to our goal of getting a house for a locally impoverished family. Here we have pictures from the trade. I had posted a "stock photo" of the typewriter, but here is the real thing! As you can see, it also comes with a case cover and the instruction manual. Many thanks to Connie for her contribution to our One Small House project. If you would like to make a trade, send me an email at trade@onesmallhouse.com. We also welcome your comments. Just click on "comments" below each post to contribute your thoughts.

CT Weblogs Lends Support!

We wish to thank CTWeblogs.com for adding us to their blog roll!

If you can add a link to us on your blog or website, please let us know so we can return the favor. Just email us at trade@onesmallhouse.com! Be sure to add us to your signature line in your emails too!

It's Official

We thank Alan Fletcher for making our first trade official by stopping by the studios on Nov 7th. He sat in on the show and we had a great time. Alan told us he wanted to be a part of this because he thinks its a great opportunity to do something good for someone. That tiny green Monopoly house in his hand has helped us put in motion something truly special.

Remember that it doesn't really matter what you have to trade, just make us an offer! While it is important to increase the value of what we have, sometimes won't because: one persons junk is another persons treasure!

Trade # 3

Well admittedly, my niece has made our third trade! But she has been quite generous. She has traded 7 of her Barbies, that are brand new in the box Collectors Editions! Here are pictures of each that you can click on individually to enlarge and see what part of the collection it is. Disclaimer: There is one that is no longer part of the collection, which has been smudged out of the group picture. I'm sure a little girl out there would LOVE to have these for HER collection. Make a trade with us, and then donate them to Toys for Tots! Do two good things with your trade...the possibilities are endless. Join us in our project to enrich the lives of a less fortunate family in our area, and you could also enrich the lives of a child (or seven children!) that may not have much of a Christmas...this is a priceless gift you can give. Why wait? It only delays the good that can be done. Thanks for all your help!

Our Second Trade: Let The Flood Gates Open!

A listener who wished to remain anonymous has made our second trade. We were traded an electric typewriter for our illustrious yellow coffee mug! This picture is not the actual typewriter, but once we have it we will post a picture of it. Remember each trade is a link in the bond for the family we are helping. Dont forget you can email your trade to trade@onesmallhouse.com. Don't wait to be a part of this special project.

We already have our next trade: Stay tuned!

Our First Trade!

We have completed our first trade. Many thanks to Alan for trading his coffee mug for our one small house! Alan emailed us this photo. It is definately a unique item. The person who trades for this will definately have a great story to tell about why they have it!

One Small House

Talk Radio 990 (WXCT AM) in Central Connecticut is hoping to find a home for a local impoverished family. We are borrowing an idea from Kyle MacDonald and what he did with One Red Paperclip. Kyle started with a red paperclip and made 14 trades to finally make a trade for a house! We are calling on our listeners to join us in our quest to trade this One Small House, and hopefully through several strategic trades, we will also make a final trade for a Real Big House. We have a deadine! We want to provide the family the house as a Christmas present. Details on the family will be provided shortly. For now we hope you will want to be a part of this adventure to bring happiness to a needy family. To make a trade, send your email with a picture of what you would like to trade to trade@onesmallhouse.com or listen to the Charlie Profit Radio Show between 1p and 3p Monday through Friday on Talk Radio 990 in Hartford.
